Landis L. Graden’s memoir, “Bent, Not Broken: Crossing Life's Bridges of Tragedy, Trauma, and Triumph” takes an earnest look into how some of the most important moments in his life were affected by the abuse and trauma during his youth. As a result, he fashioned a mask of self-doubt and fear he wore as protection for most of his life. In his first independent book, Graden begins his story by taking us inside his mind and emotions during a visit to the Obama White House as an invited VIP guest. This significant event catalyzed an awakening of sorts inside Graden which made him for the first time confront the lie he believed about himself being an unworthy imposter.
BENT NOT BROKEN peels back the layers of dysfunction providing a introspective look into how a man overcame this to live a healthy and whole life.
Landis Graden is President, CEO and Founder of DCG Strategies, Inc. (A registered and certified Benefit Corporation.) He is also called to interrupt the school to prison pipeline and as such he helped co-found and is a board member of United Tech Cities, a non-profit focused on preparing underrepresented and marginalized minority youth for careers in the tech sector.
Landis’ calling to write was born out of a desire to use his story, anecdotes and experience to help people.
There are lessons in his survival, re-education and ultimate triumph and what better way to encourage and inspire others than to provide a real life example of what lays on the other side of embracing vulnerability as a tool to usher in a mantle of wholeness.
